Hollywood Sonic Roc

With great excitment and anticipation, we have awaited our first foal crop by “Phantom of the Roc”, whom we purchased nearly two years ago.  It has been worth the wait to say the least – we are overwhelmed with the quality of his foals.

“Hollywood Sonic Roc” was the second foal to hit the ground for the 2011 season, and she did not disappoint.  She is a beautiful buckskin filly with a big, long hip and sloping shoulder.  Her correct conformation and pretty head adds to her ‘eye appeal’.  This filly is pretty enough and has the conformation to hit the show ring, however with pedigree, she is born to Rein, Cut, Draft, Barrel Race and Rope. She is growing into a stunning mare and is a definate futurity prospect for any of those events mentioned.

With the ‘Versatility’of her sire and the ‘Hollywood’ blood on her Dam’s side, she will no doubt excel at them all!  Therefore she is an excellent Futurity and Challenge Prospect.

“Phantom” was a winning camphorse at a very young age and went on to win many major drafts, barrel Races and Ropings, as well as producing winners in all those feilds. (see Stallion page).

Her Dam, “Sonic Drift” (see Broodmare page) made her way to the broodmare pen because we were cometing successfully with her full sister, “Driftin in Hollywood”.  “Sonic Drift’s” first foal was sold to Melbourne, has been broken in and is going nicely.  She is very quick and snappy in her turns, is cowy and has speed to burn, however she was purchased for her bloodlines and will enter the broodmare pen early, to continue those lines.

This filly is now 18 months old and is showing great inteligence and sound mind. There is no doubt that “Hollywood Sonic Roc” will be the same – fast, snappy, cowy and an asset to any stud who wants to breed quality performance horses!

Hollywood Roc Hammer

This colt is an outstanding type !  He just oozes charisma! “Hollywood Roc Hammer” is bred to perform and built to work and do it easy!

His conformation is very correct with that BIG LONG HIP and sloping shoulder.  His length of rein and attractive head give him the looks for the show ring, but like all the horses bred at the O.H. Corral – he is bred to work – Cut, Rein, Draft, Barrel Race, Rope or Challenge.  Take you pick!

When his sire and his grandsires on the dam’s side are so versatile that they have won in many different disciplines, it is safe to assume that he will too, and I think it is safe to pick “Roc Hammer” no matter what it is you want to do with him.  These photos were taken at 4 week of age and he is now only 6 weeks, more photos will be put up as he grows – stay tuned!

His sire is the great “Phantom of the Roc” (see Stallion page) and his dam is “Hollywood Moonglow”.  She is by “Hollywood Moonshadow” (see Stallion page) and because we don’t have a large number of “Moonshadow” mares, she has made her way to the broodmare band.  Her 3/4 sister, “Hollywood Casino Royale”, was being trained and campaigned at Barrel Racing and Roping until injury has sidelined her for a period of 2 years.  She like “Moonglow” possess a big stop.

“Moonglow”s first foal, “Hollywood Moon Express”  has been sold to Melbourne and will be campaigned at Reining.

Hollywood Prime Time

Prime Time has done a lot of mustering, and shows that “built in” cow sense that comes with the Hollywood breeding. He has good bone and strong legs and is built to stop and turn. He is started roping and is roping out of the box nicely on semi paced calves. Whilst he is switched on and alert, he remains calm in the box, a trait that all the “Showdowns” display. He is started on barrels and the training patterns. He is rising 6 years so will be an excellent prospect for the upcoming Barrel Racing Futurities in 2009. He is at the age where he is ready to go on with.

Prime Time is started in these events, however he would be suitable to campdraft, displaying plenty of cow sense, speed and athleticism. Easter Chex bloodlines have long been associated with numerous rodeo, cutting and reining winners. He carries this on his mare line.

Hollywood Pin-up Girl

“Hollywood Pin-up Girl” is a georgeous bay filly by the outstanding Campdrfter and sire, “Mabo” and she is out of “Hollywood Centrefold” who is by “Hollywood Showdown” (see Stallion page).

“Pin-up Girl” is a lovely quiet filly, who loves to be around people.  She has a beautiful length of rein and a pretty head, however looks are not her only quality.  Her sloping shoulder adds to her front end while she still has the hind end to match, with a long hip and smooth muscling, she makes a pretty picture.

Her sire “Mabo”, is by the great “Docs Freckles Oak” and is out of the wonderful “Hollywood” producing mare, in “Doc’s Baby Doll”. Mabo’s full sisters, “Oaks Stardust” & “Oaks Serene” are legends in the campdrafting world,  having won countless Open Drafts and ACA Titles, with “Serene” produced the 2011 Warwick Gold Cup Winner, “Serene Acres”.  “Mabo”, himself is a Open Campdraft winner, and his progeny are proving their ability in the Campdraft arena, with many winning and placing regularly throughout country, including “Chandelier Haze”(another double cross “Hollywood”) who won the 2007 Ladies Draft at the Stockhorse Nationals at Camden, NSW. Jessie Crozier and her “Mabo” mare, “Cinema” won the prestigious 2009 Grandmother Clock at Chinchilla, “Tax Return” and  our own “Hollywood Chantilly”, owned by Rob Tunny and campaigned by Danny Richards as well as numerous others.

“Hollywood Centrefold” is a grandaughter of “Magnum Force”, who sired several winners in the show ring.  “Centrefold’s” dam “Crystal Magnum”, is all running blood, being a grandaughter of “The Ambassador” and “Heisa Rocket”.  “Centrefold’s” 3/4 sister is performing well in the show ring, with a number of wins at Halter, and Western Performance and full brother, “Showdown’s Topgun” has perfromed well at Barrel Racing and Roping.  With “Centrefold” being the first filly, she was retained by the stud for breeding.  She was broken in and going well before begining her breeding duties.

This filly will have speed to burn, but still have plenty of cow and a great nature to go with it.  She would be a definate Challenge,Reining or Cutting Futurity prospect, and of course a definate Campdraft prospect.  This filly’s 3/4 brother, “Hollywood Flashback” (see Horses Sold page) is being prepared for the Cloncurry and other Challenges.  She is the only “Mabo” that we have this year, so if you want to do ‘cow’ work, do miss her.

Pin Up Girl has been broken in by Cody Stevens and has shown that her beautiful looks and temperament has not been wasted, because she is athletic, very smart and trainable as well. She has gone to a campdrafting home and her new owners have described her as, ‘ the full package’.

Hollywood Goldcard – Sold

Goldcard is a golden palomino gelding, out of an own daughter of Hollywood Return, “Astras Return”, [see Broodmare pg for full breeding history]. He has a nice long hip and sloping shoulder and is going well.  After being broken in and given some light mustering and basic training and patterning, he started his roping career, towing the roping dummy, tracking and breakawaying calves and heeling steers. He has really matured nicely in the last 18 months, so much so, that he has been heeled on at several ATRA Jackpots, went to his second rodeo and placed 3rd, under lights. Toward the end of 2012, Pat felt he was ready for some major competitions and competed in the ATRA National Finals at Capella and the CRCA Finals Rodeo in Rockhampton.  He has a tremendous amount of natural rate and can really stop hard.

In 2013 he has been hitting a winning streak with several wins with Lacey-Jae aboard. Winning 2 All Girl Team Roping at the Gunnedah Tough Girl Roping, #9 Team Roping at Charters Towers [with Jnr Competitor, Liam Davidson aboard] and #7 Team Roping at Chinchilla. He competed at the 2013 ATRA National Finals, and even Headed some steers there as well.  Whilest at the Gunnedah Tough Girl Roping, another Jnr competitor rode him in the Jnr Breakaway Competition.  Whilest he has done more heeling than calf work, his stop is so good it would lend him to be a top calf roping horse.

His sire, AD Collect the Check, is accomplished cutter and successful campdrafter, who was campaigned by Rick Hopkins to many wins and places in 2005. Rick is now campaigning several of his progeny. Goldcard’s grandsire, Atoe was a Champion Reiner, and had many winners in this field. Broomfield Freckles Image, who has sired winners in the show, campdraft and rodeo arenas, including Freckles Little Chickasha owned and campaigned by Amanda Watson, was by the immortal Mr Freckles Boy.

His dam, Astras Return, is an own daughter of Hollywood Return, whose list of progeny and their achievements go on and on. Astra has produced winners at Roping, barrel race, campdrafting and polocross, with several youngsters still to make their mark.

Goldcard will make a great Rope horse, however he would cross over into Campdrafting or Challenge with ease.  Whilst he has been roped on the most, he would make a good barrel horse with his rate and turn ability.  He is bred to excel in any of these events but has the conformation, looks and mind to excel in any arena.

Not only was he, himself, a prolific Champion, but his progeny have won over $5.4 Million.

Enough said on “Shining Sheriff” – he is definately bred for the job.

“Hollywood  Morn Rose” is by “Hollywood Showdown” out of “Tyrone Morn Rose”,  She was broken in and worked, and lightly mustered on.  When 2 full brothers followed, we decided that she, “Little Rose” should go into the Broodmare band alittle early, because her mother is our only “Morn Deck” Broodmare.  This mare has produced 2 lovely natured geldings, with the first “Hollywood Cartel” breaking in really well.

“Hollywood Deputy” is certainly bred ‘in the purple’, to Rein, Challenge, Rope, Barrel Race, Campdraft, or Cut.  He is an athletic boy and should mature around the 15h mark.  His bloodlines and conformation make him a definate stud prospect.  If he shows the same greatness of mind that his Sire and Dam have, he will take you to the top.
