Hollywood Tom Mix – Sold

“Hollywood Tom Mix” is a lovely big buckskin gelding, by the outstanding Campdraft Sire – “Mabo”.  “Tom” is a good sized horse, for just about any field.  He has had a lot of mustering and cattle work, which has made his switch over to roping, very easy.  He took to the roping side of things like a duck to water.

We are currently Heading Steers on him, however he has such a good stop and handle on him, he would make a great Breakaway, Calf horse or heeling horse.  He is good after a spell and is an easy going horse to ride around.  He is at the stage of roping medium paced cattle, with some faster ones now and again and handling it well.  He has been to several ATRA Jackpots as the flag horse, including the ATRA Finals at the Capella Indoor Arena. He is a good traveller, without any fuss.  He is still doing patterning excercises in prepartation for the barrel pattern, but is not far off being put on the pattern.

His sire “Mabo”, is by the great “Docs Freckles Oak” and is out of the wonderful “Hollywood” producing mare, in “Doc’s Baby Doll”. Mabo’s full sisters, “Oaks Stardust” & “Oaks Serene” are legends in the campdrafting world, having won countless Open Drafts and ACA Titles, with “Serene” producing the 2011 Warwick Gold Cup Winner, “Serene Acres”. “Mabo”, himself is a Open Campdraft winner, and his progeny are proving their ability in the Campdraft arena, with many winning and placing regularly throughout country, including “Chandelier Haze”(another double cross “Hollywood”) who won the 2007 Ladies Draft at the Stockhorse Nationals at Camden, NSW. Jessie Crozier and her “Mabo” mare, “Cinema” won the prestigious 2009 Grandmother Clock at Chinchilla, “Tax Return” and our own “Hollywood Chantilly”, owned by Rob Tunny and campaigned by Danny Richards as well as numerous others.

His Dam, “Hollywood Cadet” is one of two own daughters of “Hollywood Return” that were bred with his frozen Semen, years after his exportation to the USA in 1984. She is out of one of the McNamara’s great mares “Emu Creek Zanadoo”, by Elliots Creek Cadet, whom needs no introduction.  Such an excellent line of Stock Horses that have performed consistantly for over 30 years, crossed with the “Hollywood Return” bloodline that has also performed consistanly for over 30 years, could only mean that she was going to be one good “cow horse”.  With such valuable bloodlines, she has been utilised equally as a broodmare, producing several good foals by well known Stock horses, such as “Hazelwood Conman”.

“Tom” is a good reliable horse and is making a great roping horse, but he has plenty of ‘cow’, and would draft or challenge, however he has the speed and agility to run barrels as well.  He is reliable enough for a junior to ride, which will make him a great horse for all of the family.
