Hollys Rising Star

“Holly’s Rising Star” is by “Hollywood Showdown” out of “Hollywood Cheeky”.

As a part of our breeding partnership with Les and Cathy Flohr, “Hollywood Cheeky” was purchased for two reasons.  The first reason was that she was by the gutsy “Hollywood Star”, one of the few horses to have comeback from a broken hock, to place 3rd in the NCHA Finals, and she was a grand daughter of “Hollywood Return”.  She would be one of the first mares that we could start double-crossing. However she also was out of a grand-daughter of “Jessie James”. Breeding that Chilla Seeney beleived was the only way to go in a broodmare – “Hollywood Return – Jessie James”.

The second reason, was that “Cheeky” had already produced two good roping and barrel racing horses in, “Sleek Cutter” aka “Bandit” and “Docs Achy Breaky Oakie”.   Add to that, Stella Baulch’s “King” to name one, of several good rodeo horses from “Hollywood Star” mares, so we felt that she would be an asset to the band.

“Holly’s Rising Star” is the first filly by “Showdown” and “Cheeky” and her beautiful quiet temperament impressed us so much that we felt she had to be retained for future breeding.  When breaking her in, we had to keep reminding ourselves that she really was not an old stock horse already, she was so quiet. However, she was not a dope, she was so well collected naturally, that she could hold a lope in a small circle with very little effort, almost right from the get go.  We were soon to find out that all “Cheeky’s” foals had that exemplary temperament and quietness, with two fillies by “Moonshadow”and one by “King” that are exactly the same.

“Chubby” as we know her, has had her first foal by “Shining Sheriff” – a beautiful palomino filly, with that same gorgeous nature.  We are looking forward to many foals out of “Chubby”, especially next season when she should foal to “Phantom of the Roc” – now that should be special!!

Driftin In Hollywood

Once again, we could say that “Driftin In Hollywood” is perhaps our best mare, and she would have to go in the small group of the ‘best horses we have owned’ along with “Hollywood Lion Queen”.  In some respects she is better than “Lion Queen” because “Driftin” is, like her sire, truely versatile.  She has placed in Campdrafts [placed 3rd in her first maiden], won Barrel Races and Ropings, both Heeling and Breakaway, and won and placed at Halter and Western Pleasure/Riding and won numerous Rodeo Queen Competitions.  Most of which we would do several of those events all on the one weekend.  So she certainly has earned her Stripes!

“Driftin In Hollywood”, like “Lion Queen” was bred specially for what we do and that is Roping and Barrel Racing.   She is out of the well-performed race mare, “Drift Again”. “Drift Again”  was purchased for her bloodlines as she is a 2/3 sister to our Champion Barrel Racer, “Sonic Power” aka “Cougar”.  Who is by the super speedster, “Sonic Jet” (sire of several Barrel racers, including Cathy Rhein’s Aust Champion, and many winners in the show ring). “Sonic Jet” a double cross of “Leo” who was possibly the most versatile of sires in the fact that he sired as many great Cutting and Reining horses as he did Sprinters. “Sonic Jet” was a granson of another great – “Sugar Bars” who, like ‘Leo”, sired many AQHA Champion Reiners and NCHA Champion Cutting horses as he did Sprint Race Champions.  However “Sonic Jet” wasn’t the only attraction in her bloodlines, she was out of a daughter of “Ima Go Man” another great speedster, however her greatest uniqueness is that she also goes back to “Driftwood”, highly sort after rodeo and barrel racers in the USA.  The great Barrel Racing Champion 2011 World Champion, “Stingrey” goes back to “Driftwood”, as well as several PRCA World Qualifying Roping horses.  “Drift Again” won several Sprint Races and even held her own against the Thoroughbreds, placing 3rd over a 1000m.

“Driftin in Hollywood”  is by “Hollywood Showdown” [refer to Stallion page] so perhaps now, you can see why she was such a versatile and talented performer in so many events.  With such a depth of breeding, she will produce some spectacular performers, when crossed with the likes of “Phantom of the Roc” [see Stallion pg] and “Dun It Downunder”.  They will spin, turn, cut, slide and run and will be for the serious competitor.  As a breeder the depth of blood that her progeny will have will give a solid bone and body structure and cool mind for the abundance of “Smart Little Lena” and “Pepto” blood that flooding the gene pool.

Her first foal by “Phantom of the Roc”, is now a yearling and is showing a good, sound mind and is easy to handle and work with.  “Driftin” has just had her second foal, who is by “Dun It Downunder”.  He also is a very stunning colt, with a lovely quiet and gentle nature and very correct conformation.  See both the For Sale page and 2012 Foal Gallery, for pics and info on this gorgeous boy.  We look forward to offering more of the same quality foals as these for the decearning competitor/breeder.

Auro Char H/wood Seeke

“Auro Char Hollywood Seeke” is a beautiful big silver buckskin mare, with a huge hip, and sloping shoulder, and she has a pretty head and kind eye to boot!  We purchased her from the Auro Char Stud, when we purchased “Dun It Downunder”.  She had that ‘stand out’ look about her, and we felt that she would be an asset in our broodmare band.

“Seeker” as she is fondly known as, was not just selected because she was pretty, however when we found out her breeding we knew why she was so pretty – her sire was the great halter and show ring sire, “Ima Cool Seeker”,  who has sired such winners as “Skipopotomus” who won a whopping 928.5 AQHA Points, “KP Ima Stardust Seeker” with 520.5 AQHA Points and “Cool Sophistocation” with 398 points.  The list goes on and on with winners in Halter as well as under saddle, all with open, amateur and youth riders, which attests to the true versatility and mind that he passes on to his progeny.

Add to this “Seeker”s Dam, “Montanas Dream Girl” who is a grandaughter of “Montana Hollywood Jet”[1979 Moonbi Western Pleasure Futurity Champion, 1980 Champion of Champions Open Western Pleasure winner and 98 AQHA points in Western Pleasure, Halter and English] and “Milanders Joe”, and a great grandaughter of “Jet Along”, “Majestically”  and “Bar Deck” – all successful Sprint horses and sires of winning sprinters and performance horses.

“Montanas Dream Girl”, herself was a winner in both Halter and Western Pleasure/Performance, so it is no wonder that “Seeker” took our eye.  However this aloone, would not have convinced us to buy her, it was her temperament that was the biggest attaction.  We bred her to “King Hollywood”, for a 2012 foal and we were delighted when the gorgeous buckskin filly, “Kings Gold Seeker” [see For Sale pg] arrived.  Together they have put an outstanding quality filly on the ground, so we couldn’t be happier.  While “Seeker” herself has not performed [she was only purchased with breeding in mind], we feel that with the outstanding quality of performers in her gene pool, together with the outstanding performance history/bloodlines the Stallions at the O.H. Corral have, there is no way we could go wrong – and with her first attempt, “Kings Gold Seeker”, she has proved us right!

Astras Return

Astras Return is one of the very few living direct daughters of “Hollywood Return” left.

She has been an outstanding producer, having progeny that have won at Campdrafting, Roping, Barrel Racing and Polocrosse. Most of these have been double cross “Hollywoods”. Several of her youngest foals are still yet to be competed on. Her thoroughbred breeding on her maternal line adds to the versatility, size and speed of her progeny. We are hoping for a filly foal next to retain for breeding.

Hollywood Lion Queen

“Hollywood Lion Queen” is arguably our best mare!  I would put her in a small catagory of “Some of the Best Horses” we have been lucky enough to own.  She was the first foal that we had bred specifically for what we do – and that is Rope and Barrel Race.

First to her dam, “Lionee” – she was selected on her bloodlines – “Lion Don”, her sire was a very successful sprint horse, winning many major sprint races, and leaving numerous champion sprint horses eating his dust!  He was out of “Miss Ettaleo”, known as the best daughter of the great “Leo” to come to Australian Shores.  The strength of her blood is very evident in the numerous champions that she produced.  One was the great “Lion Deck”, champion sprint horse and sire of many great horses including his most famous son – “Morn Deck”.  “Lion Don”, who was a champion himself but also sired many winners in numerous fields.  “Lion Man” was yet another winning sprint horse.  “Lionee” herself was out of the imported mare sprint mare, “Queens are Wild” – who was by the immortal “Jet Deck“, out of the “Leo” bred mare, “Sena Leo”.  “Lionee” was the Top Price Mare at the 1980 Rockhampton Quarter Horse Sale, and went on to win numerous Sprint races. She produced several horses that were successful sprinters, however they also swapped the track for the rodeo, campdraft and Show arenas.  We bred her to “Hollywood Showdown” and got two lovely fillies, then “Hollywood Moon Shadow” and got two geldings.  All have been successfully competed on, except for “Showtime Queen”, who sustained a perminent injury, that prevented further training.

“Hollywood Showdown” of course needs no introduction![see Stallion pg] and “Hollywood Lion Queen” was the first filly that we decided to retain for competition, with future breeding being the main reason.  She was started under saddle and with her intelligence and trainable mind, didn’t take long for her natural ability and athleticism to shine through.  Before she had turned 7 years old, she had won the 2003 CRCA All Round Cowgirl and Breakaway Roping Title, as well as the ABHA Capricorn Circuit 3D Barrel Racing Horse of the Year.  She also qualified for the Team Roping Heeler in2003.  A week after she won her first barrel race for the 2004 season, she sustained a major injury, that curtailed her competition for over 12 months, however her ‘true grit’ saw her return to the competition arena, with our daughter, Lacey-Jae aboard.  Where she qualified for the CRCA Junior Barrel Race and Breakaway Roping, in 2005/06.  Then the combination won the CRCA Rookie Ladies Breakaway Roping in 2008.  With the major physical demands that Barrel Racing places on a horse, it became evident that she could not continue to barrel race, as her injury continued to rear its head.  So the decision was made that she was only to be a roping horse.  With two years off to have her first foal to “AD Collect the Check”, she was returned to the competition arena to make way for her half sister, “Driftin in Hollywood” to have her first foal. In 2010 she took out the CRCA Ladies Breakaway Roping Average, and slotted herself into Runner Up for the year, with limited competitions.

“Hollywood Lion Queen” had an  AUWSOME STOP which made her a sensational Breakaway Roping mount, while her speed made catching cattle a breeze.  She always gave {5fafa23fc10eeba143aa2db84b6b4199d34fdb8f0b392cda0adf518d44868c8c}110 of herself to her job and she enjoyed every moment of it.  She was not just a great competition horse, she was quiet and reliable so our younger daughter Cassidy-Anne rode her from a young age.

Now that she has entered the breeding stage of her career, we eagerly await the babies that she will produce with our two resident sires, “Phantom of the Roc” and “Dun It Downunder”, no doubt they will produce performance horses that will Cut, Rein, Barrel Race, Rope, Draft or Challenge. While they will be sound minded competition horses, they will be definate Futurity/stud prospects to the accerning breeder.  They will have an awsome stop and speed to burn, with intellegence and a mind to match.

Whilst “Lion Queen” has big shoes to fill in the competition arena, we know her biggest value is in the foals that she will produce.  Some will be offered for sale to the serious competitor, however some fillies and perhaps a colt will be retained by the stud for the future.  We can’t wait to see them compete.

Hollywood Centrefold

“Hollywood Centrefold” is by “Hollywood Showdown” who needs no intoroduction, being one of the best performing sons of “Hollywood Return”[see stallion pg for full performance history] and is out “Crystal Magnum”.  “Centrefold” is the full sister to “Showdowns Topgun”, who is a well performed Roping and Barrel Racing horse.  His conformation and style/build would have seen him excel in the Show ring and Dressage, however he loved his cattle work and had a ton of speed, so the rodeo arena is where he went. “Crystal Marc” is a 3/4 sister to “Centrefold” and she has performed very well in the showring also, with several wins and placings from limited outings.

“Crystal Magnum” is by “Magnum Force”, who sired numerous Show winners, including “Tuff Enuff”, “Oh So Special”, “Hy Fashion” and “Magnolia Lass” to name a few.  These horses were all Halter Futurity Champions and many went on to compete and win many Championships under saddle.   “Magnum Force” was by the great “Ambassador” [AQHA]who was best known in the racing circles as “Savannah Jet” and he has  had several winners in the Rodeo Arena as well as the show ring, he of course was by the great“Jet Deck”.  His dam, “Heishe”, was a grandaughter of the immortal “Go Man Go” and “Vandy” with a dash of “Leo” in there again.  Each of these horses mentioned are the ‘Royalty’ and the foundation of not only the Sprint bred horses, but most of our horses at the O.H. Corral.

By the late ’80s early ’90s Quarter Horse Sprint Racing had died in Australia, because of the lack of support from the Thoroughbred industry – some say they were afriad that the spectacular ‘short racing’ would take over the racing industry and was a threat to the Thoroughbred industry. So the Show Ring was the course that so many of the Sprint horses of the time took.  Sprint horses, generally, had great conformation, so were very successful in the Show Ring and swapped over into this arena with ease because of their temperament, movement and conformation.

“Centrefold” was broken in and started roping, however the Rodeo industry is hard in the aspect that you can only compete once in each event, on one horse, unlike campdrafting, jumping, cutting and reining. “Hollywood Lion Queen” and “Driftin In Hollywood” were being campaigned extensively therefore, making harder to compete on several horses at once.  “The decision was made for Centrefold” to enter the broodmare band, because both of her siblings were competing successfully with their respective owners.  She is a beautiful mahogany bay, with any equally exceptional temperament that she passes on to her foals.  She has not disappointed us thus far with two fillies by the great campdraft sire”Mabo” [see For Sale Page “H’wd Pin Up Girl”], and the exceptional 2012 palomino colt by “Phantom of the Roc”, [see For Sale Pg “H’wd Daytona”].  Perhaps her most awaited foal will be her 2013 foal by “Dun It Downunder”.  One think that we can be sure of, is that will be well built, good minded horses that will have the ability to do almost anything that you want to do with them, and oh so pretty to boot!!!

“Tiger Lily” as she is affectionately known is by “Hollywood Showdown” (refer to stallion page) out of “Milbrook Ima Personality”. “Personality” was by the speed sensation “Ima Go Man”, and out of an “Eddie Barnes” mare. “Eddie Barnes” of course being one of the original sprint sires to be imported to Australia. “Personality” successfully raced before being bred. She herself was a lovely quiet mare and she passed this onto her foals.

Tiger Lily, because of her bloodlines and the fact that we had sold her full sister, made it intthe broodmare band quickly and was not campaigned. However we look forward to campaigning her progeny.

Hollywood Boulevard is by “Hollywood Showdown”, our first and original stallion. Her dam, “Carriage” was a Stock Horse mare used for mustering on Terang Station, Comet, before entering the broodmare band on the station.

Hollywood Boulevard was a very clever mare, with a huge stop, and was used for mustering as well. She showed a lot of “cow” and was very trainable. We were keen to start breeding some of our “Showdown” mares and she was one of our oldest mares, so she inevitably was the first one to enter the broodmare band.

We are now breaking and starting some of her oldest progeny and are very happy with their softness and trainability and once again, their big stop!

Tyrone Morns Rose

As a part of our breeding partnership with Les and Cathy Flohr, Tyrone Morn Rose was purchased specifically for her bloodlines and we were all happy, but not surprised, at what a beautiful mare she was when she arrived. She therefore went straight into the broodmare band.

Her sire is the legendary Morn Deck who needs no introduction. He is one of Australia s leading sires of Performance Horses. His progeny have excelled in the show ring, the reining pen and of course, the rodeo arena, particularly barrel racing.

Her dam, Winderadeen Fleurs Jet , was by another legend in Jet Boom . Jet Boom himself, was a champion Reining and Working Cow Horse, and he sired a huge number of winners and Champions in these events as well as the show ring, rodeo arena and cutting pen. Her second dam, Mid Rose was by Mentrioso , who was one of the first QH to be imported to Australia and a proven Broodmare Sire. Even today, he is still very highly sort after in the female lineage.

Sonic Drift

Sonic Drift is by “Hollywood Showdown” out of the well-performed race mare, “Drift Again”. “Drift Again” is a 2/3 sister to our Champion Barrel Racer, “Sonic Power” aka “Cougar”. Not only was she by the super speedster, “Sonic Jet” (sire of several Barrel racers, including Cathy Rhein’s Aust Champion, and many winners in the show ring), but she also goes back to “Driftwood”, highly sort after rodeo and barrel racers in the USA.

Sonic Drift is a full sister to “Driftin in Hollywood”, Capricorn Circuit ABHA 3D Barrel Racing Champion 2005, CRCA Finals Qualifier in Team Roping, and Western Performance winner. Since we were competing on her sister, we decided to breed Sonic Drift.

Her first foal is due to in November to “AD Collect the Check”, cutting and campdraft winner.
