New Products – Liz O'Halloran along with Merv Rowland of Merv Rowland Custom Saddles, have put together their knowledge and designed a Barrel Racing Saddle. Liz, after riding in a number of different saddles, both imported and hand made, felt that it was nearly impossible to get a saddle to sit you in the correct position around a barrel. So many saddles will throw your legs backwards the minute that you stand in the irons. We have designed a saddle that combines the best of both worlds – Western and Australian. This saddle will allow you to get your legs forward and help you sit deep in the saddle when going into a turn, (as a good ‘Stock Saddle’ will), but still have the movement to get up and out of the saddle coming out of your drums. With a deep comfort seat and leg cuts that allow contact with the horse, you can ‘feel’ the horse under you. The girthing system that Merv applies to his saddles allows the horse to be girthed up further back in the proper position eliminating the saddle from ‘popping’ up in the back.
